I have grown increasingly distant from DA. It just seems to me that people are moving away from real art and just producing lame crap. Anime has, in my opinion, ruined art. People are to attached to the characters they watch on anime TV and movies. I hate fan art and fan fiction. It drives me crazy that people would rather continue drawing the same unoriginal characters rather than product something of artistic value. I am sick of mostly naked anime girls in vulnerable poses, to me that’s not art its porn. If it is meant to elicit some sort of arousal it is porn. Even more disturbing is the growing number of versions of characters that are morbidly obese wearing bikinis. I don’t understand why anyone would take someone elses character and alter it in that way. Am I missing something? When did this become popular?

Another “art” trend that became popular for no reason was the bloody suicide photography. I can see how it started, someone approaching is issue of suicide. While I think it is a worthy topic, it has strayed from its original goal of bringing awareness to teen suicide. Now we are inundated with images of bloody bathtubs that glorify suicide and make it seem beautiful. A real depiction of someone who slit their wrists would show them in the tub bathing in not only their own blood but their vomit and feces as well.

DA has become very trend based and that sucks because it doesn’t encourage new things or new ideas. People are more concerned about page-views and comments then they are about art. I no longer post my art on DA because it is only being shadowed by nonsense. Granted I am not innocent, I have done fan art and anime, but I don’t have a gallery of it. Lately I have been painting but I don’t feel that DA is the place to get meaningful feedback so I haven’t and probably wont post any images of my paintings. I will how ever continue to post my Tattoo designs. And maybe some sketches, but nothing that I really expect to get much feedback on.

Its sad, I really enjoyed DA but it just isnt the same anymore. sorry if I offended any anime adicts, but in al reality I think you people need to go see a real movie, watch an episode of scrubs, and come back to reality and leave the cartoons to the pre-teens.
